EUROPE RELIEF

Europe's relief has large areas of lowwlands and plains in the north and east and mountains in the south.

There are three main zones:

• The Great European Plain: from the Atlantic Ocean to the Ural Mountains.
• Old mountains: the Pyrenees and the Scandinavian Mountains, less tan 1000 m high
  
• Young mountains: the Alps, the Apennines, the Carpathians, the Balkan and the Caucasus Mountains, more than 3.000 m high.
