THE POLITICAL ORGANIZATION OF SPAIN

Our country is divided into 17 Autonomous Communities and 2 Autonomous Cities.

They are governed by Statutes of autonomy that define their name, boundaries, symbols and language. They also share responsabilities with the Central Government of Madrid.

There are three main zones:

  • The Great European Plain: from the Atlantic Ocean to the Ural Mountains.

  • Young mountains: the Alps, the Apennines, the Carpathians, the Balkan and the Caucasus Mountains, more than 3.000 m high.

Europe has many rivers with varied characteristics depending on what watershed they flow into. There are 4 watersheds and these are their rivers characteristics:


ARTIC OCEAN   these rivers are long and have regular course 

ATLANTIC OCEAN    these rivers are short and have high volume of water

MEDITERRANEAN SEA   these rivers are short and have an irregular flow

CASPIAN SEA  and BLACK SEA these rivers are long and regular

What does Brexit mean?

It is a word that has become used as a shorthand way of saying the UK leaving the EU - merging the words Britain and exit to get Brexit, in a same way as a possible Greek exit from the euro was dubbed Grexit in the past.

Why is Britain leaving the European Union?

A referendum - a vote in which everyone (or nearly everyone) of voting age can take part - was held on Thursday 23 June, 2016, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union. Leave won by 51.9% to 48.1%. The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting.

Our rights are what every human being deserves, no matter who they are or where they live, so that we can live in a world that is fair and just.
Some of our rights
Everyone has the right to have:

  • education
  • shelter (somewhere to live)
  • warmth
  • food
  • clothing
  • personal space
  • freedom of speech
  • to be different
  • to feel comfortable
  • equal opportunities (given the chance to be what you want to be whether you are rich or poor, whatever religion or race).
Of course since these rights are for everybody, that means we all have to take on responsibility too.

THE GOVERNMENT


Spain is a parlamentary monarchy with the king Felipe VI as the head of the state and simbolically Commander-in-Chief of the Spanish Armed Forces.

It is also a democratic state, based on national sovereignty or rightful status, independence to govern and decide.

The Crown is hereditary. It means that Felipe VI directly inhertited the right to be our king from the ninenteenth of June of 2014.
